Success Story in Burkina Faso: a car for pastoral work

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Father Kisito Konate has his hands full. Not only is he parish priest of the parish of Saint Joseph, with an additional 14 outstations in a radius of over 50 km from the centre, but he is at the same time the head of the diocesan Family Committee of the diocese of Nouna. And on top of this is also general secretary of the family apostolate committee of the joint episcopal conference of Burkina Faso and neighbouring Niger.

One issue of real concern for Father Kisito is the crisis in the family, which is increasingly affecting his own diocese too. He is particularly concerned at the high number of teenage pregnancies. „In the town of Nouna itself almost every large family has at least one teenage girl who is already a mother, and every year there are more and more of them“, he reports. The result is spiritual and psychological trauma for the abandoned girls, problems in the family and a very high risk of extreme poverty and poor future outcomes both for these young mothers and for their children. „The Church must find ways and means of addressing this problem“, he says. „Jesus Christ himself, the Son of God, lived in a human family with Mary and Joseph. When we work to help the family, we are working for a better world.“

Father Kisito has to do a lot of travelling as part of his work. Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, we were able to provide 24,000 Euros to purchase a car with which he can cover the long distances more quickly and more safely. And it also means he can now spend more time caring for the Catholic faithful and help more people. He sends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped!
