OVERVIEW OF THE SITUATION
Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world today. It is a fact even though many people are not aware of it.
“Kill me if you will, but leave the faithful in peace!”
Last words from Fr. Thaier. He was murdered on 31.10.2010 during an Islamist terrorist attack on the Syriac Catholic Cathedral of Baghdad, in Iraq.
“The blood of Father James will not have been shed in vain. It will serve the Catholic Church and her mission in India. Let us pray to God for justice and protection.”
Said Mgr. Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Thottathady, at Fr. James Mukalel’s funeral. Fr. James died on 30.07.2009 on his way home in Thottathady, in India.
“Our country is a wounded and needy land. Please pray, pray without ceasing for us, just as Jesus taught us. Please pray every day for us!”
Message from Fr. Albert Toungoumalé-Baba from Bangui, Central African Republic. He was among the people killed in an attack on the church of Our Lady of Fatima on 01.05.2018, in Bangui.

Message from Sister Isabel Sola Matas. She was murdered on 03.09.2016 in Bel Air, in Haiti. She was shot twice in the chest.
“Sarah died in my presence. Four of our choristers were dead. We lost them. They didn't die in vain.”
Testimony of Patience Ishaya John, a close friend of Sarah, who died in an attack of Boko Haram to Saint Raita parish church on 28.10.2012 in Kaduna, Nigeria.
“The man said he had a bomb, but Akash didn’t move. He held the terrorist to keep him from entering the church. The bomber blew himself up. Akash was killed instantly, but he saved many. It was an act of love.”
Testimony of Qandeel Victor, a friend of Akash Bashir, a young catholic man. Akash was a volunteer to guard his parish church, St. John, in Lahore. He was killed in a bomb blast protecting the faithful.
Inspired by the life of Father Frans I stayed. I became a volunteer to help my Syrian brothers and sisters.”
Testimony of Elias Jallhoum, a parishioner of one of the churches Fr. Frans van der Lugt was responsible for in Syria. Fr. Frans was murdered on 07.04.2014, in Homs, Syria. He was killed by gunshots to his head.
“On the wall of the church they wrote: ´There will be no Christianity in Iraq anymore´. But they didn’t make it. Thanks God, Iraqi Catholics came back.”
Testimony of Rami S. Albahadrey, a parishioner of one of the churches Fr. Ragheed Ganni was responsible for, in Iraq. Fr. Ragheed was shot dead in 03.06.2007, in Mosul, Iraq.
