Bei seiner Reise nach Uganda im Jahr 1969 hatte Papst Paul VI. unterstrichen, dass Afrikaner ihre eigenen Missionare sein sollen. Die Gr\u00fcndung der Schwesternkongregation ist eine Frucht dieser Erkenntnis. Inzwischen sind afrikanische Priester und Schwestern aber nicht nur auf ihrem Heimatkontinent, sondern auch in anderen Teilen der Welt als Missionare t\u00e4tig.<\/p>\n<p>Seit 2015 sind Schwestern der \u201eMissionary Congregation of the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary\u201c auch auf der Karibikinsel Kuba t\u00e4tig. Zwei afrikanische Schwestern \u2013 eine aus Uganda, eine aus Kenia &#8211; arbeiten in Palma Soriano in der Erzdi\u00f6zese Santiago und betreuen dort f\u00fcnfzehn Gemeinden im l\u00e4ndlichen Gebiet. In dem Land, das jahrzehntelang sozialistisch regiert wurde und unter einer schweren Wirtschaftskrise leidet, ist der Einsatz f\u00fcr die Notleidenden, aber auch die Glaubensverk\u00fcndigung sehr wichtig. Zwar sind ca. 70 Prozent der Einwohner getauft, aktiv am Leben der Kirche beteiligen sich aber nur die wenigsten. Der Erzbischof sch\u00e4tzt, dass nur ca. ein Prozent der Getauften die Heilige Messe besucht. Hier kann das Zeugnis der Schwestern viel bewirken.<\/p>\n<p>Da die Kirche in Kuba arm ist, bittet uns der Erzbischof um Hilfe. Wir m\u00f6chten den Ordensfrauen in diesem Jahr mit einer Existenzhilfe von 2.000 Euro unter die Arme greifen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Die \u201eEvangelizing Sisters of
